A bit about SA Power Networks
SA Power Networks operates a distribution network that stretches across South Australia, comprising thousands of kilometres of powerline and hundreds of substations.
What SA Power Networks needed
With no experience in leveraging Public cloud based environments, SA Power Networks commenced an IT led initiative to complete a detailed assessment that determine the security risks, benefits and process.
How base2Services delivered
base2Services was engaged to provide a strategic document to guide SA Power in using a Public Cloud environment. SA Power Networks had chosen Amazon AWS as the platform. After discussions with SA Power Networks, base2Services advised that the best method would be to use a real example. A lightly used application within SA Power Networks was chosen as the pilot candidate.
This pilot helped bring the process into reality, detailing and showing by example the process of disaster recovery and backup.
System hardening was completed by base2Services and handed to SA Power Security for verification. The system is now used by the business and the process undertaken is used across multiple applications within SA Power Networks.
